Beyond Barriers, Inc. has been working in your local communities  for over 20 years. We understand the challenges that clients may face and we work with them to overcome their obstacles.  We are certified through the Nurturing Parenting Program, National Anger Management Association, and Florida Certification Board. Our Therapists are licensed through the State of Florida.

Charity Williams

Charity Williams is a licensed clinical social work in the State of Florida (SW21613), the State of Vermont (089.0135432TELE), the State of South Carolina (TLS391CP) and a Licensed Graduate Social Worker in the State of Minnesota (31433). She is also a Registered Play Therapist. She has a Masters degree in Social Work from Capella University as well as a Masters in Science from Florida State University. She is a certified Nurturing Parenting Facilitator, a Certified Anger Management Specialist, a Certified Batterers Intervention Specialist, a Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Perinatal/Postpartum trained through PSI, an Autplay trained Therapist and also a EMDRIA approved EMDR therapist. She is also trained in the TF_CBT, Seeking Safety, and the Duluth Models. She takes a trauma informed approach to her counseling style. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the National Anger Management Association, the Association of Play Therapy, the Hendry Glades Opioid Consortium, and the Hendry Glades Sexual Abuse Response Team. She has spent the past twenty years working with families in our local communities to help them through their crisis's. She works with ages 5 to 100 in both Fort Myers and Labelle. She takes a multi-methodology approach to counseling with using multiple interventions that suit the clients individual needs. She works to help her clients overcome the barriers that are standing in the way of their journey.

Jodi Elam
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
(Not Currently Seeing Clients)

Jodi Elam is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH19963) who obtained her M.S. in Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.  She also has a M.S. in Reading from Barry University.  Jodi has a decade of experience working in community mental health and substance prevention. She has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children who suffer from anxiety and depression, have difficulty regulating moods, suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder, have a substance use disorder, or have experienced trauma.  Jodi is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Moral Reconition Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Skills, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and relaxation techniques.  She is also a Nurturing Parenting Facilitator, Botvin LifeSkills Facilitator and certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.  Jodi uses a multi-theoretical approach that brings a special blend of motivation, mindfulness and empathy to her work.  Jodi utilizes a variety of evidence-based interventions designed to meet the individual needs of each client so they can identify and achieve their goals.

Emerald Williams
Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Emerald is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH22612). She obtained her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2021. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology in 2018 from Nova Southeastern University. She became a certified Moral Reconation Therapy Facilitator in 2020. She, also, became certified in the Duluth Model in 2020. Additionally, she became certified as a Nurturing Parenting Facilitator in 2018. Emerald primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. She is an EMDR-trained therapist and is a member of EMDRIA. She works with adults to work through the trauma that is standing in the way of a full life. She specializes in trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders. Emerald is a big believer that an individual's thoughts and beliefs are the drivers of a person's emotions and actions. She works with clients to develop an individualized plan to help them reach their desired goals.

Jasmine Vega
Clinical Social Work Student Intern

Jasmine is a student intern currently working on her Master's degree in Social Work. She is attending the University of South Florida. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Jasmine's primary field of interest is addiction and adolescent counseling. However, she is encompassed with skills in multiple fields of counseling and is continuing to expand her knowledge. Jasmine also offers the skill of being bilingual in both English and Spanish.
